(Botanical name: Zea mays)
Maize or Corn is the third most important cereal in the world. It is a rich source ofcarbohydrates, dietary fiber and fat. Maize is primarily used as feed (70% of production), other uses include consumption as human food, bio-fuel and starch from maize is used for the preparation of plastics, fabrics and adhesives.
Yellow maize has yellowish grains which are arranged in regular rows on cob. It consists of 61% starch, 8% protein, 11.2% fiber which makes it an ideal constituent of cattle feed. It accounts for the bulk of total world maize production and international trade.
